Guidelines for Temps

Key Points and Guidelines for Professional Temporary Workers for Portfolio Payroll:

On commencing an assignment with Portfolio Payroll, please adhere to the following guidelines. These are in place to ensure that your booking runs as smoothly as possible and continues for as long as possible, they help towards your future references and continuing work via Portfolio Payroll.

Sickness:  Inform your consultant at Portfolio Payroll before 9am if you are sick and unable to go to work.

Holidays: Telephone your consultant in advance of your holidays with the dates you will not be in work, even if it is only one day.

Timesheet: Please complete your timesheet (with client authorisation) every Friday and fax it for the attention of Hayley on 020 7247 9673. Remember if a timesheet is not received by 12pm on Monday, it may lead to a delay in your payment.

Hours: If you are employed on a full time basis, you are required to work the minimum hours the client has specified, fewer hours could jeopardise your assignment and means less money in your bank accounts.
Under the Working Time Regulations there is a limit of an average of 48 hours for which you can be required to work, however, it is your choice if you wish to work more.

Interviews: If you have permanent interviews these must be held outside of office hours, before 9am and after 5pm.

Timekeeping: Arrive at your assignment promptly. As a temporary worker, you should have the attitude of a permanent member of staff, willing, flexible and conscientious.

Mobile Phones: Ensure that your mobile phone is turned off whilst at work and do not use the company resources for personal reasons. No personal phone calls and no internet access.

Presentation:  Dress appropriately for the environment you are working in. Remember that it is always better to overdress. Create a good image.

End of assignment:

1. If your assignment is coming to an end, let your Portfolio Payroll consultant know as soon as possible, so that we can start to look for a fresh assignment for you.
2. Never terminate an assignment without first discussing it with your consultant. Remember that you are employed by Portfolio Payroll and as such, have an obligation to inform us of any changes during your assignment.
